About us

3rd June 2006 marked the sixtieth anniversary of the establishment of Walsall Deaf People's Centre (WDPC) on its present site opposite the Arboretum in Lichfield Street.

Originally called the Church Mission for the Deaf and Dumb of Staffordshire under the patronage of the Bishop of Lichfield, it was subsequently handed over to the Deaf community to be known under its present name as one of the few centres of Deaf people in the UK to be managed by members of the Deaf community.
